23/3 The eighth painting begins⊠Under the greatest effort the soul seeks to make its way forward, and this is signified by the shell lying at the foot of the cross â one yellow, the other blue, more compact than in the previous one. From the shells emanates a force so strong that it cuts through the colored lower part of the cross. Now, beneath the shell, the pink color shall radiate and rise upward. It is a fine stream connected to the pink rose and surrounded by the two lines⊠The shell, an image of innocence, is used to explain the whole course of development; the stream of life flows vigorously during evolution and fills the shell with invisible life.
